CHANGE BACKGROUND COLOR:

Artistren.com is the first site of its kind in China: the first site designed as a community for artists, photographers, designers, models and the interested alike to gather and discuss and share their work and their lives. Artistren.com is a place for creatives to gather and for creativity to put down roots and grow.
China’s art and fashion world is an international one, and so are we. Our site is based in, and about, China, but we’re multi-lingual and so are our resources.
To get the most out of our resources -- including your own blog and image gallery, access to the forums, and the chance to see your profile and your work featured in our e-zine -- you’ve only to register. Don’t worry, it’s free!

Getting a Second Interview

Trite though it might be, you get only once chance to make a first impression. When you land that interview you’ve been working towards for what seems like forever, you want to bring your ‘A’ game. Competition in the modeling world is fierce, and you don’t want to slack off now that you’ve landed an interview. Because after the first interview, your goal is to get a second interview, and from there to get yourself paid modeling work to add to your portfolio. You need to stand out at the interview, and in a good way rather than a bad one.

Designing Your Portfolio

Along with comp cards and business cards, a well-designed portfolio is one of the essential trappings of professionalism for serious models. You want to impress people when you show it to them, not just with how great you look in your pictures but with how much time, effort and thought you’ve put into both designing the portfolio and selecting your pictures.

Photo Shoot

The one thing you don’t want to do for your first shoot is show up empty handed. What you bring with you will depend on whether you’re having portfolio shots done or whether this is a paying job for a client, but either way showing up completely empty handed indicates a lack of professionalism and preparedness – and you don’t want that!

So, what to bring? If you’re shooting for a client, he’ll give you a list of specifics to bring with you, but there are certain basics you should bring with you no matter what.
