About half a year ago, I saw some ceramic art works done by FENG Shu and other artists of his generation. They really moved me and made me think deeply. It felt like some of my long holding questions were starting to be resolved. Feng Shu’s work is a type of standard, and I hope I can express some of my opinions through talking about his works.

Despite his recent breakthroughs in artistic language, the style of Li Qing’s art did not become defined until the series of works ‘Finding Together’. Since 2005 or so, he has been working continuously on the series. Metaphorically speaking, he has been building a small-scale labyrinth with these works. In his book The Labyrinth in Culture and Society, Jacques Attali wrote "Whoever has created the labyrinth, s/he has turned finiteness into almost infinity. S/he has stuffed limited space with unlimited time." Seen from this wider perspective, all types of artistic creativity, in one way or another, resemble a labyrinth. And therefore gazing at a painting is somewhat like meandering inside a labyrinth.  

Since 2000 there has been an increasing curiosity by the international community in the astonishing speed of China’s emergence on the globe as one of the key players and a potential competitor of the American superpower.

In the middle of 1970s, I went to Qingpu County of Shanghai many times for doing archeological excavations and holding exhibition. It was in the county’s museum I got known with Debao who was an art designer with the museum.

Sichuan woman artist Peng Wei uses the traditional medium of Chinese ink on paper to create delicate and intricate paintings of women's shoes and traditional Chinese robes. Representing the clothing in beautiful colours and patterns, Peng gives a fresh and contemporary expression to the traditional technique of ink painting, without intentionally reforming it.

The Mao rule comes to an end and china opens her doors to the rest of the world. Needless to say that this has both positive as well as negative points. China has won the labor war with the world and has emerged the numero uno in the manufacturing world. There are very few things of the developed world that China does not produce. It is this status that inclines one to believe that seminars related to manufacturing and market trends will be very educative, since one will learn how China has won her position and is holding on to it so well.

China has truly arrived. From the water-laden rice fields of drab grey dressing and comrade years China has transformed her to a fresh young lass of the new century. Not only has China earned international repute as a manufacturing country but within her boundaries too the changes are rapid and upward.

The Chinese no longer wear grey overalls,now all genders and classes have access to colors as well as western outfits of all ranges. China provides all kinds of powers to her citizens. The Chinese are known for their dedication to the work as well as their cost effective labor all over the globe.

In Chinese traditional literature, quite often poems were simply named after the first of a stream of emotional images evoked by the first line of the text.
